The research assistant works with archival and contemporary Hawaiian-language materials, applying careful documentation practices and contributing to a collaborative editorial workflow.

The position is remote within Hawaiʻi, with periodic in-person project gatherings.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and organize relevant Hawaiian-language source material.
  • Transcribe, proofread, and document primary sources.
  • Maintain research notes, citations, and project files.
  • Participate in editorial review and project meetings.

What you’ll bring

Qualifications

  • Intermediate or advanced Hawaiian-language ability.
  • Research experience with primary or archival sources.
  • Careful attention to orthography, citation, and detail.
  • Ability to manage independent work and deadlines.
